About the Role
We are seeking a driven and experienced Compliance & AML professional to take on a managerial role within our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading compliance operations, overseeing a team, and strengthening AML/CFT frameworks across licensed entities. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership, making it ideal for someone ready to step into a more strategic and supervisory position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, and mentor a small team, ensuring high-quality output, productivity, and ongoing professional development
- Deliver training, coaching, and performance oversight to team members to maintain strong technical standards
- Oversee and enhance compliance frameworks for licensed entities, ensuring adherence to AML/CFT regulatory requirements
- Supervise the collection, review, and quality assurance of Due Diligence documentation
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring timely updates of information and documentation
- Ensure accurate maintenance and regular review of client records and files
- Oversee daily client screening and sanctions compliance processes, ensuring effectiveness and timeliness
- Review and approve compliance outputs, including AML file reviews and team deliverables
- Lead the preparation and submission of quarterly compliance and MLRO reports
- Conduct and oversee jurisdictional risk assessments and ensure proper documentation and escalation where necessary
- Manage and respond to regulatory and enforcement authority requests with accuracy and professionalism
- Drive the development, review, and implementation of internal policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks
- Oversee the Compliance Monitoring Programme and Compliance Calendar, ensuring effective execution
- Keep the team and clients informed on regulatory and legislative developments, translating changes into actionable updates
- Coordinate and supervise the preparation and submission of regulatory filings to relevant authorities
- Provide strategic support to Directors, contributing to projects, process improvements, and business growth
- Ensure proper handling and safeguarding of sensitive data, maintaining confidentiality and integrity at all times
Experience and Skills
We are looking for a professional who combines technical expertise with leadership capability:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in AML/CFT and Compliance, with exposure to team coordination or supervision
- Strong knowledge of AML/CFT legislation, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices
- Proven experience in implementing AML/CFT procedures and conducting Customer Due Diligence (CDD)
- Familiarity with reporting obligations to the FIAU, MFSA, and other regulatory bodies
- Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, and manage both personal and team workloads effectively
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solutions-driven mindset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
